GROWING UP

Mia grew up in Omaha, NE with her brother Cameron Sherlock and her parents Kevin and Melissa Sherlock. Her family supported Mia's passions for dance and theatre at a young age. The first musical she saw, "The Lion King" sparked an interest that she continued to pursue throughout her early elementary and middle school years. After she performed as a puppy in her very first dance recital, she told her mom, "I want to do that again". Mia would end up taking the stage many more times in the years to come.

A self-proclaimed theatre nerd, Mia became the President of the first Junior Thespian Troupe in Nebraska and continued her time on stage at Omaha Burke High School as a part of International Thespian Troupe #4138. It was here that she fell in love with the community theatre and dance gave her.

When she wasn't attending local, regional, or national theatre conventions, Mia also danced as a member of American Midwest Ballet II, a preprofessional division of the regional company. Mia was also actively involved with Omaha Performing Arts, a local Non-Profit Organization that provided opportunities for students in the area to see Broadway Tours and participate in masterclasses, workshops, and showcases.

Mia credits her family for many of the amazing opportunities and experiences she has had. As a developing young adult, she was taught the importance of music, poetry, literature, multiculturalism, and empathy by her parents, grandparents, and mentors. The words that guide her are ones that her grandfather toasted to at her parent's wedding dinner "And remember the truth that once was spoken...to love another person is to see the face of God". Throughout her life, she has learned to value above all else, the relationship you make, keep and cherish.

Her journey led her to Oklahoma City University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Dance and Arts Management. As a Dance Management Student at The Ann Lacy School of American Dance and Entertainment, she studied Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Theatre Dance, and Pointe with a world-renowned faculty. She was also been lucky enough to perform in several productions under director, Jo Rowan as well as serve as her Dance Captain. Mia graduated in the Spring of 2022 and is now pursuing her career in the arts. She has worked with companies such as: "The Rock School for Dance Education" in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, "The Joffrey Ballet School" in New York City, "Omaha Performing Arts" in Omaha Nebraska, and "Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma" in Oklahoma City Oklahoma.

Mia loves grabbing (or making) coffee with her friends, visiting her family and hometown, and soaking in all the arts and culture Oklahoma City has to offer. With her sights set on exploring multiple areas of the Entertainment Industry, Mia is looking for new and exciting ways to use her skills to bring more art into the world.
